DesertTuners was founded in 2007 yet has already become prominent in Arizona's automotive scene. The main goal from the beginning has been to learn from, teach, and form lasting friendships with fellow members. We have regular meets, feasts, parties, and group installations that really makes everybody feel like family.
The broad variety of cars in the club reflects the diversity of our members. Although we have a large amount of members with years of experience, certifications, and top jobs in the automotive industry, we also have many members who aren't in the business and are just looking to show their car off, get some advice, and be with friends. Originally with a primary membership base in the West Valley we now have members all across the state of Arizona.
Interceptor # 003 built by Mad Max Unlimited of west Perth Australia. Car is well placarded by MM Unlimited. Engine, trans, and rear are fresh rebuilds. Car runs and drives superbly with hard instantaneous shifts. Only a few examples exist worldwide and maybe only three in the USA. XB Falcons have become very, very rare. This replica is movie correct in nearly every detail including white engine compartment and door jamb overspray, even down to the slightly misaligned hood on the drivers side due to the Nightrider chase in the opening scenes of the movie. Tyre size on this example is larger than the movie car. I would rate the paint a 7 out of 10. Has a small hairline crack on the drivers side wheel well arch easily fixed but nearly invisible unless you know where to look. To build one of these Mad Max Interceptor replicas now the way this one was done would cost in excess of 35,000 USD and up to 50,000 USD depending on the availability and condition of the base car used. Shipping from Australia to USA has skyrocketed (doubled from 3000 to 6000 in four years to the midwest)

Speculation is increasing that Dodge driver Kasey Kahne, who runs for Richard Petty, could switch to a Toyota by the July 11th Sprint Cup race at Chicago. Petty has said that Chrysler has cut its payments to his four-car operation, and apparently Petty has only enough engine parts for one of the new Dodge NASCAR engines. Petty's business partner, George Gillett, tried last season to make a deal with Toyota. Gillett, who apparently has other sports business problems, related to his ownership of the Liverpool (England) soccer team, just made the decision to sell his Montreal Canadiens, for an estimated $550 million, which may put the rest of his sports empire back on more solid footing. There is no immediate comment from Toyota officials.

This is pretty interesting, and us "car enthusiasts" really need to be aware of what's going on.
With the increase in electronics and such in our vehicles, it's making it harder and harder for third party repair shops to fix and maintain our vehicles. Car manufacturers aren't "sharing" the necessary knowledge, tools, etc. so that these independent shops can do their job. You can also look at this as the manufacturers/dealerships are making it harder and harder for the car enthusiast to "modify" their vehicle, even though they own it.
The Right To Repair Act helps not only the independent repair shops, but also the buyer/owner of the vehicle. Don't let the dealerships/manufacturers tell you who you can take your car to!

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- General Motors filed for bankruptcy protection early Monday, a move once viewed as unthinkable that became inevitable after years of losses and market share declines capped by a dramatic plunge in sales in recent months.
The bankruptcy is likely to lead to major changes and job cuts at the battered automaker. But President Obama and GM CEO Fritz Henderson both promised that a more viable GM will emerge from bankruptcy.
